'08 Open Class Award Winners

Entries to the open class will be limited to Buena Vista and the surrounding counties of Cherokee, Clay, Sac, Ida, and Pocahontas. Anyone entering anything for judging must enter it in the name of the person who made the object. These objects should have been made in the last TWO (2) years and have not been entered into the BV County Fair Open Class before. When entering, you must supply a full name, current address, and telephone number.

Entries will be accepted from 4pm – 8pm on Tuesday, July 14 and 8am – 11:30am on Wednesday, July 15. Judging will begin at 12:30pm on Wednesday, July 15. Floriculture participants can bring flowers anytime during the earlier registration or Wednesday, July 15 from 6pm – 8pm or Thursday, July 16 from 7am – 9am. Floriculture judging will take place on Thursday, July 16, beginning at 9:30am. Any entries received after the close of registration will not be considered for judging. Open Class building will be closed from the beginning of judging on Wednesday, July 16 until 11:00am Thursday, July 16. Floriculture participants wanting to enter during the later registration hours may bring items to the north door of the Open Class building during their registration time. Entries, ribbons, and premiums can be claimed from 3pm – 5pm on Sunday, July 19, 2008. Please make arrangements to have everything picked up at this time. Items or Premiums not picked up, or arrangements not made will be forfeited.

The following age groups will be available in all categories and divisions, unless otherwise noted in the book. Children should enter under the grade they have just finished.

• Preschool A
• Kindergarten – 4th grade B
• 5th grade – 8th grade C
• 9th – 12th grades D
• Adults 18 yrs. – 64 yrs. E
• Adults 65 and over F
